Video Installations & Live Visual Performance

2015- 2018

  • Artistic Project:  “KPA”

It was a project in collaboration with the artist Krystel Rascon. It consisted of Real-Time Visual Performance (VJ) at music concerts and art exhibitions between Ensenada and Tijuana, Mexico.
We mixed paint, illustration, photography, video, and old movies according to the theme of the music or exhibition.
The name in Spanish is a phonetic game that translates in English into "Layer." This keyword defined our creative process of creating new images by adding or subtracting visual elements as layers.

2018

  • Video Installation: Rizome Project.

-Concept:
An alien exploring the earth is making a report about the ideas of otherness and time.
The name is inspired by the philosophical concept developed by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guatarri that describes systems with no clear beginning or end.
The project was a collaboration with Jorge Gutierrez (Sound Design), Jesus Salazar (Photography), and Neyra Hernández (Poetry).
It was part of the exhibition "Alienus" at Nube Nueve (Cultural Center) in Ensenada, Mexico.

-Role: Video Editor and Video Installation Technical Coordinator.

-Technical:
Consisted of three projectors and one computer screen. One of the projectors and the computer screen were interactive by cameras installed in different room positions, so the video was modified according to the shapes of the audience in the room.

2016

  • Video Installation: Arqueology of the Future.

-Concept:
It was based on a photo essay about the concept of ruin through advertising and the signs of the city's businesses.
To describe the physical erosion that will create these future ruins, we use the physical prints of the photos and destroy them using water, fire, earth, and wind. We used one projector per element.  We used another projector to reference the fragility of archives in the digital environment, so we created a video using special software to disintegrate the digital files of the images into pixels.

The exhibiton was at Centro Cultural Santo Tomás, and was part of the photography festival "Imaginaria" in Ensenada, Mexico.

-Role: Video Editor and Video Installation Technical Coordinator.
